Cambrian Discovery - Daily Tours

CAMBRIAN DISCOVERY runs the luxury daily Rheidol Rover Deluxe Tour© or Rheidol Rover Economy Tour© which allows the visitor to gain an overview of the area between Cardigan Bay and the Cambrian Mountains.

There are three departure times. The first tour departs from outside the Tourist Informayion Centre in Aberystwyth at 09:30 am and the second tour departs on the Vale of Rheidol Railway at 10:30 am. Each tour finishes between 17:00 & 18:00 back in Aberystwyth – a full day out! The third tour, the economy tour departs from outside Aberystwyth Tourist Information Centre at 10:45 am.

Each tour visits the following attractions (admissions and train journey not included on ecemony tour)*

Bwlch Nant Yr Arian

Your tour will include a visit to Forestry Commission visitor centre at BWLCH NANT YR ARIAN VISITOR CENTRE which is located in a wonderful lakeside setting where you can watch Red Kites in the wild. Spend some time walking round the All Ability Lakeside Trail, which allows all the opportunity to enjoy the natural beauty of the area.

Llywernog Silver Lead Mine

You will visit LLYWERNOG, an authentic 18th century silver mine. Llywernog offers a fascinating insight into local life nearly 200 years ago. Llywernog is an ideal all-weather attraction. Warm clothing and stout footwear are a good idea as the mine is cool even on the hottest day!

Cwmystwyth

The spectacular Ystwyth Valley was described by AA (2001) described CWMYSTWYTH as one of "the ten most scenic drives in the Britain." At Cwmystwyth you will pass through the oldest recorded metal mine site in the UK - at some 4000 years old. The later workings are breathtaking in their expanse.

Hafod

HAFOD is recognised as one of the finest examples in Europe of a picturesque landscape, designed to display its natural beauty Hafod was an essential destination for the early tourist in Wales and it is claimed was the inspiration for Coleridge's famous poem, Xanadu.

Devil's Bridge

The mid point of each tour is DEVIL'S BRIDGE ( Pontarfynach in Welsh ). Famous for the three bridges that span the gorge of the the river Mynach the falls spectacularly drop 90 metres before meeting the river Rheidol. Discover the falls and the legend of why the Devil built the bridge in return for the soul of the first life to cross!

Vale of Rheidol Railway

Each tour begins or ends on the world famous VALE OF RHEIDOL RAILWAY. The line meanders through spectacular mountain scenery, from Devil's Bridge to Aberystwyth. The ever changing views allow you to truly discover hidden Wales.
